Originating from Yorkshire I undertook my Orthopaedic training in Edinburgh and developed a keen interest in Hand and Wrist surgery. I undertook two fellowships at the prestigious Wrightington Upper limb unit before returning to Yorkshire with my young family as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in York Hospital. I specialise in all aspects of the management of hand and wrist conditions.
Training and qualifications
BSc (Hons) – Anatomical Science – University of Manchester
Medicine (MBChB) – University of Dundee
FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) – Edinburgh Orthopaedic Rotation
Fellowship – TIG Ortho-plastic Hand Fellowship at Wrightington, Whiston and Alder hey Hospitals.
Fellowship – Hand and Wrist Fellowship Wrightington Upper Limb Unit.
Specialist areas
Diagnosis and Treatment of Hand and Wrist Conditions including:
- Dupuytrens disease (needle fasciotomy, fasciectomy and dermo-fasciectomy)
- Sports injuries to the hand and wrist
- Nerve entrapment syndromes (carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel)
- Base of thumb arthritis (trapeziectomy, fusion and joint replacement)
- Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis affecting the hand and wrist (corticosteroid injections, joint denervation, joint replacement and fusion procedures)
- De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, tendinitis and tendon repair
- Trigger finger and trigger thumb
- Ganglions cysts and mucous cysts
- Fractures to the fingers, the hand and wrist
- Fractures to the scaphoid and scaphoid non-union
- Ligament injuries around the wrist (wrist arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction)
